Motherboard Review: Foxconn P31A-S

Simple motherboard with newest processors support

Foxconn have launch its P31A-s series that targeted value class consumer who need newest processors support. P31A-S use Intel P31 chipset. It can use 45nm processors because it's been overclocked.

Intel P31 chipset is value version of Intel P35 chpset. There's only 2 DDR2 memory slot in P31, but it's already support dual channels mode with 4 GB maximum capacity. With overclock the memory can reach 1066MHz.

P31A-S have 6 expansion slots. One of them is PCI Express x16 graphic slot.


P31A-S use IHC7 Southbridge . ICH7 doesn't support SATA RAID. P31A-S only have 4 SATA ports. It have 8 USB ports.

For overclockers, P31A-S is value class motherboard that overclockable. P31A-S can be overclocked with setting the jumpers and with change the BIOS settings. There's detailed explanaition about overclocking in this motherboard manual.
